But what fruit and veg is best for a balanced and healthy diet? The following are key focus points to attain a wealthy of health boosting nutrients:
Eat a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables
Eat each colour of the rainbow every day (plus whites)
Frozen fruit and veg are also included as 1 of your 5 a day and retain their nutrients
Prioritise seasonal fruit and vegetables as much as possible (higher nutrient content)
Experiment with your foods, try something new
Make smoothies, juices (WITH SKINS) if you don’t like to eat them, but don’t replace meals with them!
Include a multivitamin as an insurance policy only!!
DO NOT buy into fad juicing diets or expensive supplements i.e. juice plus – they do not replace food!
DO NOT avoid edible skins on fruit and veg as they contain most of its nutrients and fibre for healthy digestion.
